Sydney and Ethan originally planned a big wedding. But like so many couples, they realized the stress of planning was pulling them away from what really mattered, each other. So, they made a big decision and decided to choose something more meaningful, an intimate day focused on their love and their immediate families.
And honestly? It was perfect.
They held their ceremony at The Brim Wedding Venue, a stunning all-white chapel nestled in Kansas City. It’s one of my favorite spots for couples planning a small wedding or elopement. The Brim is a true hidden gem, not just for its clean, minimal charm, but because of the heart behind it.
The owners of The Brim are passionate about making wedding days accessible and meaningful. They even offer free chapel rentals at certain times during the week, no strings attached. It’s a space that feels just as beautiful in mission as it does in photos.
If you’re looking for an intimate Kansas City wedding venue, I’d highly recommend checking them out. It’s the kind of place that lets your love be the main focus.
Somehow, Sydney and Ethan got one of those unicorn Midwest weather days, high 70s and breezy on August 1st. You could feel everyone soaking it up. The whole day felt relaxed and stress-free.
After their ceremony, we captured some family portraits and a few couples portraits of just the two of them. Simple. Intentional. So full of joy.
Once portraits wrapped, we all made our way downtown to Afterword Tavern & Shelves for their afterparty. It’s a bar and a bookstore (yes, really) with cozy lighting and moody wood tones, kind of like a secret library full of amazing cocktails.
The vibe was relaxed and cool. Friends gathered around tables, books lined the walls, and Sydney and Ethan were able to enjoy their people without a schedule pulling them in every direction. It was the perfect way to end their celebration.
If you’re dreaming up something small but full of intention, I’d love to help you bring it to life. Whether you’re planning an intimate Kansas City wedding or a simple weekday elopement, I’m here to photograph your day with care and intention.
